Today is the last day Parker County residents can register to vote in the upcoming presidential election, as well as the other state and local races that will be on the Nov. 4 ballot.
To ensure every interested citizen is eligible, a Mobile Voter Squad will be out and about today registering everyone that requests their services.
“This is probably the most vitally important election of our time,” said Deb Cascino, chairman of the Parker County Democratic party who is sponsoring the mobile squad. “We want everyone that wants to vote to be able to vote. We’ll come to their front door, we’ll go to their office ... whatever we need to do to get people registered to vote. Elections can be won and lost by one vote, so every single vote counts.”
Parker County Elections Administrator Robert Parten said a voter registration application must be filled out and postmarked by the end of today in order for the applicant to be eligible to vote Nov. 4.
“It can’t get anymore important than this,” Parten said. “When you really get down to it, the responsibility to register to vote belongs to the individual. There are plenty of opportunities for people to register, and it’s very important that they do so.”
Unlike in some other states, Texan voters are don’t register with any particular party. As such, voter registration drives are essentially bipartisan.
