Goff honored for highest Scouting rank

WEATHERFORD — Boy Scout Troop 75 honored Connor M. Goff, 15, at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor recently at Couts Memorial United Methodist Church.

Connor is the son of Jimmy and Karmann Goff, of Weatherford, and the grandson of Henry and Esther Wattenbarger, of Weatherford, and Jimmy and Ruby Goff of Bogalusa, La.

Only 4 percent of Scouts attain the highest rank of the Boy Scouts of America.

An Eagle Scout must have completed at least 21 merit badges and organized a service project that benefits his church, community or school.

Goff’s Eagle Project involved building and installing shelves in the shower cabin and performing some much needed maintenance and weatherproofing to the cabins at Camp Holland Girl Scout Camp in Weatherford.

Goff joined Cub Scout Pack 79 at age 7, and later earned its highest award, the Arrow of Light.

A member of Troop 75 since 2003, he has attended Summer Camp at Camp Cherokee, Camp Constantine in Texas and Slippery Falls Scout Camp in Oklahoma. He also attended Twins Arrows Junior Leadership Training at Sid Richardson Scout Ranch in 2006.

Troop 75 is sponsored by Couts Memorial United Methodist Church.

Goff, a sophomore at Weatherford High School, is active in Cross Country and Track.

He is also a member of the Forrestal Squadron, United States Naval Sea Cadet Corp based at NAS JRB Fort Worth. A member of Victory Baptist Church in Weatherford, he is in the youth choir and he accompanied their youth group on a mission trip to Vancouver, B.C., earlier this year.

He plans to attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md., after high school graduation.
