Gene Watson to perform at Texas Opry

Weatherford Democrat

Gene Watson will be performing at the Texas Opry Theatre from 3-6 p.m. today, along with the Farewell Party Band.

Watson will be celebrating his 50th year in country music as well as his induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Watson has appeared at the Texas Opry Theater several times between 2002 and 2006, and has always sold out the theater.

Performances such as “Fourteen Carat Mind,” “Love in the Hot Afternoon,” “Farewell Party,” “Memories to Burn,” “Got No Reason Now for Going Home,” “Speak Softly,” “Paper Rosie” and “Sometimes I Get Lucky and Forget” have forged Gene Watson’s reputation as a “Singer’s Singer.”

Opening the show will be the Showtime Band, with a preview of their next big show on Aug. 17.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.texasoprytheater.com, or by calling 817-341-1000.
