Local officers recognized for Aryan brotherhood homicide arrests

Being a cop is hard work. But every once-in-a-while, the efforts placed in a case investigation pays off big.

Weatherford Police Cpl. Kevin Hilliard, Special Crimes Investigators Mark Gray and James Peel and Parker County Sheriff’s Investigator Ricky Montgomery have been recommended for police and sheriff’s commendation medals for their roles in the investigation of the Aryan Brotherhood crime organization earlier this year.

The investigation unfolded this summer and ultimately led authorities to the arrests of eight Aryan Brotherhood members and associates believed to be involved in the homicides of two other associates of the organization, who died last summer.

Officials believe the suspects are responsible for the murders of Anthony Ormwell Clark and Breanna Elise Taylor.

According to Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler, some of the subjects of the investigation had ties to Parker, Wise and Tarrant Counties.

Weatherford Police Chief Jerry Blaisdell said the investigation began earlier this year after Hilliard developed information regarding narcotics activity and pertaining to two possible murders within the group.

Gray and Peel were brought in to develop information about the case and corroborate the homicides. Montgomery, who maintains data on the organization at the sheriff’s department, was involved in identifying potential suspects.

As a result, investigators were able to identify the suspects from their street names and believed one of the victims may have been killed in Dallas. His body was found by Dallas Police officers but was not identified.

The Federal Bureau of Investigations Domestic Terrorism Task Force, actively investigates Aryan Brotherhood activities in the metroplex.

The Dallas and Mesquite Homicide Detectives Division was notified and assisted in the investigation, which resulted in the arrests being made by the agencies.

According to Fowler, the combined efforts of the group led to identifying the body found by Dallas officers Aug. 6.
