Pecan Valley MHMR adds veterans services coordinator

Pecan Valley Centers is pleased to introduce Robin Greer as its new veterans services coordinator.

Greer, a Navy veteran of Operation Enduring Freedom, comes to Pecan Valley with over 20 years experience assisting veterans with a multitude of needs in areas ranging from VA benefits, information and referral to employment services.

Greer will be taking the helm of a newly created position designed to coordinate mental health services in order to meet the needs of veterans struggling within the region.

“Veterans in our rural counties need to know they are not alone and that there are resources available to assist them” stated Greer.

Not only will she be a knowledgeable resource for area veterans and their families, but Greer will also advocate for additional programs to help all veterans in our Pecan Valley Region.

As the local mental health authority for Erath, Hood, Johnson, Palo Pinto, Parker and Somervell counties since 1976, Pecan Valley has made it its mission to meet as many unmet needs in the communities as possible. For example, “Bring Everyone in the Zone” is a veteran’s peer-to-peer support group designed to provide education and support to service personnel and their families, especially those who live with post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury military sexual trauma, and other issues that affect their mental health.

For more information about any veterans services provided by Pecan Valley Centers, contact Greer at rgreer@pecanvalley.org or call (817) 579-4489.

Peer facilitators are essential to ensuring the expansion of our current program. If you are a veteran who would be interested in receiving training to facilitate one of these peer groups, contact Greer for more information.

For more information on Pecan Valley Centers, go to www.pecanvalley.org or find them on Facebook.
