Hudson Oaks council considers approval of U.S. 180 project

HUDSON OAKS — Hudson Oaks councilmembers are expected to approve a bid for the U.S. 180 Middle Median Project during tonight’s regular council meeting.

The project is part of the city’s beautification and branding campaign, trying to update the city. City officials are also planning on placing large signs at both ends of Highway 180 welcoming people to town.

As part of the new branding of the city, council members will also get an update on the city’s branding, including a new logo and website. The update was to be given last month but City Administrator Sheri Campbell-Husband said the design firm and city weren’t comfortable with what they had and decided to postpone the update a month.

A discussion of Fiscal Year 2012-13 water rates is also on the agenda. In budget discussions, the city was looking at an 8 percent increase across the board to meet obligations for the city’s proposed water projects. Campbell-Husband said in preparation for the council discussion, it was found the increase would only need to be about 4 percent.

“It’s going to be significantly less than we originally thought,” Campbell-Husband said.

Appointment of a municipal court judge and associate judge is also on the agenda for the meeting, which begins at 7 p.m.
