TOTS announces new season’s shows, special ticket packages

A new season is just around the corner and a busy one it will be.

Theatre Off The Square has changed its production calendar to coincide with its fiscal year, January to December. So what does that mean? There will be more great theatre to enjoy.

For the upcoming months TOTS will be offering several season ticket options. Call 817-341-8687 for reservations or more information. Like our Facebook page and visit TOTS’ website at theatreoffthesquare.org.

Eleven-show package: Order this package by Aug. 22 and save. Eleven shows for $120, including the musical, is quite the bargain. Season ticket holders are seated in the first two rows based on date of reservation for all 11 shows. The tickets can be used for evening or matinee performances or mix and match. After the Aug. 22 deadline, the price is $132.

Eight-show package: This package starts in 2014 with “Rex’s Exes” and continues through “A Tuna Christmas.” Eight-show season ticket holders will be seated in the first 2 rows for this set of shows only. Price for eight shows is $106 and will not be sold after Feb. 16, 2014.

Three-show package: This mini season includes special seating only to the productions of “Bus Stop,” “Bad Seed” and “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.” The price for the fall season of three shows is $39. Mini-season tickets will not be sold past Sept. 22.

Individual ticket prices for Friday and Saturday evenings are $14 and $12 for seniors and students and matinee tickets are $11. Tickets for the musical “Nunsense” are $15.

“Bus Stop” by William Inge (Sept. 6-22); Dramatists Play Service, comedy.

“Bad Seed” by Maxwell Anderson, from William March’s novel (Oct. 18-Nov. 3); Dramatists Play Service Inc., thriller.

“The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” by Barbara Robinson (Dec. 6-22); Samuel French, comedy.

2014 Season (begins in January)

“Rex’s Exes” by Jones Hope Wooten (Jan. 31-Feb. 16); Dramatists Play Service Inc., comedy.

    In June, there were seven students who explored the flora and fauna of the rainforest through music at The Burch School of Music. Each child made his or her own rain stick, along with other crafts and art work. For two hours each day for five days, students explored a different level of the rainforest, starting with the emergent layer at the top, moving through the canopy, the understory, the forest floor and the rivers. They let bats fly (black balloons) and were eaten by a boa constrictor. On the last day they dressed as natives and drummed together.

  • Republican Women to meet Aug. 14 at Doss

    The Parker County Republican Women’s monthly meeting will be Aug. 14 at the Doss Heritage and Culture Center in Weatherford. The meeting is open to the public.

  • AgriLife to offer parenting classes Aug. 19, 21

    The Texas AgriLife Extension Service of Parker County will offer parenting classes on Aug. 19 and 21, 2014, at the Parker County Agricultural Services Center. The classes will be from 1-5 p.m. each day and will include lunch. The cost to attend the class is $10 per person for the two-day class. Scholarships are available.

  • CASA receives national certification for its efforts

    WEATHERFORD – CASA Hope for Children of Parker and Palo Pinto County has just been awarded certification by the National Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Association. This certification recognizes that CASA Hope for Children is in compliance with National CASA’s high standards for quality child advocacy.
