Special Christmas church service, events listings

Live nativity scene

Trinity Lutheran Church, 1500 Ball St., will put on its live nativity scene this Saturday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The scene will include live animals and soup will be served afterward.

FBC Dennis musical program Sunday

This Sunday, Dec. 15, at 6 p.m. First Baptist Church of Dennis is presenting a Christmas musical program, “Born to Bring Us Life.”

The program is presented by the church’s music ministry featuring the adult choir, New Life Ringers, children and soloists.

Following will be a Christmas fellowship with desserts and holiday snacks.

The church is located at 7600 FM Road 1189, south of Interstate 20 next to the Reserve at Sugar Tree and golf course.

Classical Christmas concert at FBC Dennis

First Baptist Church of Dennis is presenting a “Classical Christmas Concert” at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, featuring world class classical guitarist Rodrigo Rodriguez.

The concert is free and the public is invited. The church is located at 7600 FM Road 1189, just south of The Reserve at Sugar Tree.

 

Bethel UMC nativity

Bethel United Methodist Church will display its live nativity scene on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 20-21, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The church is located at 3196 Bethel Road, 2.3 miles south of Interstate 20. Drop by to view the nativity scene, then enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and cookies inside fellowship hall. Return on Christmas Eve at 5:30 p.m. for a candlelight service.

New River Church services

On Sunday, Dec. 22, New River Church will offer four Christmas services at 9 a.m., 10:30 a.m., noon and 6 p.m.

The church is located in Hudson Oaks at 3252 East Interstate 20.

    ST. LOUIS — Johnathon Taylor Soulis, of Weatherford, was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2014 semester at Washington University in St. Louis. Soulis is enrolled in the university’s School of Engineering and Applied Science.

  • Driver speed, seatbelt compliance surveys show improvements

    The Weatherford Police Department utilized grant funding from the Texas Department of Transportation to fund overtime salaries for extra enforcement during the week of the Fourth of July. The extra patrols worked to ensure drivers were complying with posted speed limits, wearing seatbelts and were not driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol in an effort to keep our local roadways safe.
