The Special Olympics Texas Area 11 Parker County Purple Frogs are looking for school age children with intelliectual disabilities interested in participating in organized sports.
Any child at least 8 years old is eligible to join in training and competing. There are currently coaches certified in basketball, aquatics, softball and bocce, with more sports certifications coming soon as Special Olympics has 21 different sporting events.
Joining Special Olympics allows children with intellectual disabilities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage and confidence while enjoying the fun of organized sports. It also serves as an opportunity for children to make friends with others in the community.
There is no fee to participate. However, parent involvement is required.
Anyone interested in becoming certified as a coach or volunteer is welcome to join the delegation.
