A suspect in a March 9, 2012, home invasion where a couple was robbed at gunpoint pleaded guilty Friday to aggravated robbery and received a 30-year sentence, according to Assistant District Attorney Robert DuBoise.
Daniel Wayne Anderson, 29, of Weatherford, was one of three suspects indicted on aggravated robbery charges in the case where the man and woman said two men wearing hooded sweatshirts knocked on their door in 100 block of Cahill Court and forced their way inside after the door was answered.
Anderson, along with David Alberto Dozal, held the couple at gunpoint, at one point making them lie on the living room floor as they took jewelry, firearms, a purse and a wallet, the sheriff’s office reported.
Investigators obtained a video surveillance recording from a convenience store at the intersection of Garner Road and U.S. Highway 180 depicting a blue passenger car being driven by an apparent blond-haired woman and two male passengers.
Investigators reportedly searched Dozal’s residence and found property that had been reported stolen in the robbery after Anderson was arrested in connection with several burglaries around the same time period, including one where his neighbor photographed a ring that had been reported stolen in a burglary being worn by a woman living with Anderson.
Dozal is scheduled to go on trial Monday.
Tire iron beating
One of two men accused in the tire iron beating last October of a juvenile as he was walking down South Main Street pleaded guilty Thursday to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and received a 25-year sentence, according to DuBoise.
David Anthony Sanchez, 28, was charged in the beating that reportedly left the juvenile with a laceration to the head requiring seven staples.
Juan Daniel Garcia, 18, has also been charged in the attack.
Three juvenile males reported they were walking down the street near a restaurant when two men in an SUV told them to go away.
Later, as they were walking on the other side of the street, the vehicle pulled into a parking lot behind them and the driver reportedly went after one boy with a tire iron while the passenger chased another boy and attempted to punch him, police say the teens reported.
A short time later, police reportedly located a vehicle matching the description and partial license plate number at a nearby house and found Sanchez in bed, fully dressed.
Garcia’s case is pending trial.
