POLICE BLOTTER: Pair arrested for possessing drugs on bus

Following are some of the offenses, investigations and calls for service reported by the Weatherford Police Department for the period 6 a.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday:

Drugs on the bus

Two bus passengers were arrested after police were called to meet a passenger bus in the 2200 block of Old Dennis Road by a woman who claimed $400 was taken from her purse by the two individuals.

Police searched the people pointed out by the victim. Officers said they did not find the missing money but did report finding marijuana and pills. Arrested were Joshua Arthur Duplantis, 31, of New Orleans,  and Jennifer R. Noyes, 32, of Sacramento, Calif., for possession of controlled substance and possession of marijuana under 2 ounces.

Assault

A 26-year-old man called police at 10:40 a.m. Monday to the 600 block of West Park Avenue to say he was assaulted by an unknown individual.

Home burglary

A 37-year-old man told police his home in the 100 block of Deanna Lane was burglarized during the day on July 14. He said the residence was entered through a garage and missing was a guitar valued at $100. He said the garage was open and the guitar was leaning on a chair.

9:18 a.m., minor wreck, 1800 block of Santa Fe Drive.

11:15 a.m., theft, 1700 block of Santa Fe Drive.

12:36 p.m., criminal mischief, 900 block of Van Winkle Street.

1:36 p.m., minor wreck, 200 block of Adams Drive.

2:43 p.m., minor wreck, 900 block of Eureka Street.

9:38 p.m., reckless driver, 400 block of East Eighth Street.

11:38 p.m., suspicious vehicle, 500 block of North Main Street.

Tuesday

2:08 a.m., suspicious person, 600 block of Eureka Street.

2:17 a.m., suspicious vehicle, 300 block of South Main Street.

2:23 a.m., minor wreck, 2100 block of Tin Top Road involving a public intoxication arrest.

  • Driver speed, seatbelt compliance surveys show improvements

    The Weatherford Police Department utilized grant funding from the Texas Department of Transportation to fund overtime salaries for extra enforcement during the week of the Fourth of July. The extra patrols worked to ensure drivers were complying with posted speed limits, wearing seatbelts and were not driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol in an effort to keep our local roadways safe.
