The Weatherford Art Association announced the June Artist of the Month winnings entries at its monthly meeting.
Artist of the Month of June first place was awarded to Kathy Cunning for her watercolor, ‘58 Chevy. Kathy’s work will be on display at the Fort Worth Community Credit Union after the Peach Festival. Second place was awarded to Debra Sue Waters with a color pencil drawing titled, ‘Draft Horse”. Debra’s work will be on display at the 1st National Bank on Palo Pinto after the Peach Festival. Third place was awarded to Terry Ellis with an oil painting of horses called, “Family.” Terry’s work will be on display at the First Financial Bank on the square after the Peach Festival.
The guest demonstration artist was Fort Worth western artist, Randy Meadors. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma and an aspiring athlete, Randy began painting after hearing a quote by Winston Churchill, “When I paint, nothing else matters”. He painted as an escape and being a competitive sort, he painted until he got good at it, and not paints full-time. Randy’s demo was a watercolor portrait of Steve Murrin.
This week is registration week for the Peach Festival Art Show. All local artists are encouraged to entered their art Thursday, Friday or Saturday afternoons from 4-7pm at the Firehouse Gallery at 119 Palo Pinto. The website has additional information. www.weatherfordart.com
