Weatherford Art Association has started a new feature at the Firehouse Art Gallery at 119 Palo Pinto called “Artists with Disabilities.”
Each month, the Association will hang artwork in the gallery from amazing local artists who demonstrate their artistic abilities despite various medical and/or physical problems.
The paintings of Linda Burgess will be displayed at the Firehouse Art Gallery through June. Linda was an Alternative Education Teacher in Boyne, Michigan, connecting at risk students back into the educational system using art. She contacted Powasson Encephalitis, a rare disease caused by the bite of a rare tick and, after recovery, moved to Texas to be close to her children. Her daughter, Karen, sought out art teachers from the Weatherford Art Association and found Virginia Mayfield who has been teaching Linda for five years. Stop in at the Firehouse Gallery and enjoy Linda’s work.
