Rotary Club gearing up for annual pancake supper

The Rotary Club of Weatherford’s 58th Annual Pancake Supper is Tuesday, Feb. 18, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Weatherford High School, 2121 Bethel Road.

This is the club’s largest youth scholarship fundraiser event of the year, and attendees can bid on more than 100 silent auction items.

“We had a tremendously successful pancake supper last year, and I hope the folks from Parker County turn out again,” said Darren Donaldson, pancake supper event coordinator and Rotary president-elect.

An estimated 1,600 people will attend the event, which will include the following:

• Pancakes, bacon, sausage, milk, juice, etc.

• Silent auction.

• Pancake eating contest.

• Drum line from Weatherford High School.

• Bounce house for the kids.

Tickets are $5 in advance and $8 at the door. Tickets can be purchased from any Weatherford Rotary Club member, at the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce office, at First National Bank of Weatherford or at the Weatherford Senior Center.     Professional auctioneer Randall McDaniel conducted his fourth annual PCRTA auction of items donated by members on April 1. Several paddle wars transpired for popular items. Additionally, members participated in a silent auction, a first for the group. A total of $1,400 from the auction was contributed to the PCRTA’s operating fund. McDaniel is a 1986 graduate of Weatherford High School. The auction was sponsored by the Community Service Committee, chaired by Barbara Rothrock.
