Another Azle-area quake confirmed

The USGS Wednesday confirmed reports of more seismic activity in the Azle area late Tuesday morning.

An earthquake shortly before noon was originally reported by the USGS as a 2.3 magnitude and later upgraded to a 3.0.

Several residents in the area reported feeling what they believed to be two small quakes within a few minutes of each other late Tuesday morning.

The USGS lists 27 earthquakes in the area ranging between magnitudes 2.1 and 3.6 since Nov. 5. The most recent prior to Tuesday occurred Jan. 13.

Data from seismic sensors researchers have placed in the area can be viewed online at http://escweb.wr.usgs.gov/cgi-bin/heliaz.pl.
