Last week to sign up for city pool swim lessons

Many children and adults have learned to swim this summer at the Cherry Park Pool, and this week is the last week to make reservations to take part in the City of Weatherford's “Learn to Swim” program.

Currently there is still space available in both morning and afternoon classes, slated for July 22-Aug. 1. Classes are Monday-Thursday and are 40 minutes in length.

If interested, call 817-598-4124 or stop by the Parks and Recreation office located at 119 Palo Pinto St. to sign up or for more information.

Daily admission for the Cherry Park Pool is $3 per person, and night swim is $2 per person. Season passes can be purchased for $65 per person or $195 for a family of four, and resident discounts are available. Proof of residency is required and is determined with a copy of a Weatherford Electric statement and a valid driver’s license.

Season passes can be obtained by calling 817-598-4124 or in person at the Parks and Recreation Office  at 119 Palo Pinto St. Passes are also be available for purchase at the Cherry Park Pool during the designated hours of public swim.

POOL TIMES

Open Swim Times – Monday-Friday, 1-5 p.m.; weekends, noon-7 p.m.

Night swim – Monday and Wednesday, 8-10 p.m.

Water aerobics – Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 8:30 a.m.-9:15 a.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 7-7:45 p.m.

Lap swim – Monday and Wednesday, 7-7:45 p.m.

Special needs swim – select Fridays, 5:15-7:30 p.m.

Additionally, members participated in a silent auction, a first for the group. A total of $1,400 from the auction was contributed to the PCRTA’s operating fund. McDaniel is a 1986 graduate of Weatherford High School. The auction was sponsored by the Community Service Committee, chaired by Barbara Rothrock.

    A Parker County grand jury on Thursday indicted a man accused of breaking into his neighbor’s home and threatening him with a BB gun before engaging in a brief standoff with deputies.
