PARKER COUNTY — A Parker County grand jury indicted two men accused of beating a juvenile with a tire iron as he was walking down South Main Street with two other juveniles.

Juan Daniel Garcia, 17, and David Anthony Sanchez, 27, were indicted Nov. 8 on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second degree felony.

Both men have been in the Parker County Jail since their arrest in August, according to jail records.

Weatherford police responded to the 1000 block of South Main Street on July 31 where three juvenile boys, whose ages were not released, reported they were attacked by two men in a white SUV.

One of the boys reportedly had a laceration on his head that required seven staples, according to police.

The victim reportedly told police that he and two others were walking by a restaurant in the 1200 block of South Main when two men told them to go away. They reportedly continued walking on the east side of the street.

Later, as they were walking on the west side of the street, a vehicle pulled into the parking lot behind them and the driver asked them a question, one of the boys reported, according to the investigator’s sworn statement filed in Justice of the Peace Kelly Green’s court. The juveniles said the driver then jumped out of the vehicle and struck one boy in the head with a tire iron.

Another boy said the passenger, who was younger and shorter, jumped out of the vehicle and attempted to punch him and chased him.

The boys were able to give officers the first portion of a license plate number, and an officer reportedly located a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer parked in the driveway in the 300 block of East Josephine Street with a license plate matching the description.

Garcia was located in the house and Sanchez was found in bed, fully dressed, according to police.

Sanchez was arrested Aug. 13 on charges that include failure to identify and several traffic warrants.

During an interview with Det. Troy Luecke, Sanchez reportedly said he got out of the vehicle to assault the juveniles but Garcia was the one that struck the kid in the head with the jack handle, according to the affidavit.

Sanchez reportedly said he was drunk at the time.

Garcia is also being held on a Texas Youth Commission detainer, according to jail records.
