Aledo gets new contract deputy

ALEDO — Parker County Sheriff’s Deputy William C. Kirk, 29, is replacing Deputy Jason Turner as the City of Aledo’s full-time contract deputy for the coming fiscal year. Turner will assume regular patrol duties with the sheriff’s department.

Kirk, who was born, raised, and lives in Weatherford, has eight years of experience in law enforcement. He served as a jailer for the sheriff’s office for a year and a half beginning in 2004 and then as a peace officer for the Weatherford College Police Department, where he worked until 2008.

Kirk has been employed by Parker County and worked for the sheriff’s office for the last four years.

He will commute from Weatherford using a patrol vehicle provided by the City of Aledo.

The new deputy’s duties will include answering calls for service, traffic enforcement, crime prevention, checking on businesses and routine patrol, he said.

“I’m a hard worker, and I’m here to do a good job for the City of Aledo for the upcoming year,” he said.

Kirk said he finds law enforcement fulfilling.

“I like the ability to help people,” he said. “The job holds weight with the community, and the ability to do my job well greatly impacts more than just myself.”

Kirk enjoys cooking as a hobby. He plans to go back to college in the near future to work on his bachelor’s degree, with a focus in criminal justice.

Danie Huffman, public information officer for the sheriff’s department, described Kirk as both personable and professional.

“At the department we view him as a man of his word,” she said. “Aledo’s very fortunate to get him.”

The annual expense of the City of Aledo’s law enforcement contract with Parker County is $65,424.

Kirk was introduced at the Nov. 15 Aledo City Council meeting.
