Weatherford ISD recognizes each member of its nursing staff as part of Nurse Appreciation Week throughout the country.
School Nurse Day was originally recognized to raise a better understanding of the school nurse’s role in education. School nurses advocate for children’s health by promoting healthy activities, disease prevention and access to health care. These are essential components to student success in the classroom.
The role of the school nurse has greatly expanded from its original focus, but the essential goals of the practice remain the same. School nurses provide for the safety and care of students by addressing physical, mental, emotional and social health needs of students.
