BLRW plan ‘Freedom Celebration’ event

The Bush Legacy Republican Women of Weatherford is planning its inaugural Freedom Celebration on the grounds of the historic Parker County Courthouse on Friday, June 28, at 8:30 a.m.

The purpose of the public event is to serve as the kickoff for the week leading up to Independence Day and other community events celebrating our nation’s birth.

Parker County Republican chair and Bush Legacy president Zan Prince will preside. State Rep. Phil King has been invited to provide the invocation. District Judge Craig Towson and County Judge Mark Riley will lead pledges to the U.S. and Texas flags. District Judge Graham Quisenberry will present a brief program on the flag and its history and symbolic role in our nation’s freedom.

“Flags will be placed on the courthouse grounds in honor and in memory of friends and loved ones of our club members and supporters who are devoted to the conservative values of Parker County – the values that have made this the greatest nation on Earth,” said Prince.

The flags will be on display throughout the day. A roster of all of those who are honored with a flag will be presented to the Parker County Commissioner’s Court later in July.

Anyone interested in making a donation to the project in honor or in memory of a family member, friend, co-worker, veteran, and/or community leader can contact Kathryn Thompson, project chair, at (817) 917-5485 or email kthompsoncfre@gmail.com to obtain a sponsorship form.
