WHS Skills USA provides Merry Makeovers

Members of the Weatherford High School Skills USA Cosmetology Class, accompanied by the WHS Skills USA Culinary Class, Skills USA Multimedia, as well as Skills USA Graphic Design Students, participated in the First Annual Merry Makeovers benefiting the Texas Center for Cancer or Blood Disorders of Weatherford.

The Center’s patients started by sampling the delicious creations of treats and punch prepared by the culinary students and served by Ariel Gonzalez. Once the patients had visited the hors devours, they were pampered with manicures, pedicures, and facials by WHS Cosmetology classes.

As soon as the patients were finished with their makeovers, they were offered the opportunity of having their Christmas portraits taken by WHS multimedia student Jordan Nixon against a pink and leopard background complete with a pink Christmas tree trimmed with leopard ribbons and Christmas balls.

Patients were dressed in either leopard or pink Santa hats, and pink Christmas ball earrings were offered to complete the look for their portraits.  WHS Graphic Design student, Erin Luke, created the flyers for the event as well as the invitations that were sent out to the patients.

Cosmetology students that participated in this community service project were Danica Barnes, Caylan Benge, Iva Kessler, Ashlee Pipkin, Jordan Poe, Savannah Cheak, Samantha Alexander, Kelsey Beeghly, Mattelyn Robbins, Shelby Hunt, Cecilia Montez, Cindy Valdez, Reagan Bonneau, Haley Henslee, Shelbie Cronkite, Allyssa Hendrix, Miriam Lopez, Laura Mireles, Kelsie Parker, Madelyn Franklin, Megan Sacre, Maddi Roark, and Cynthia Salas.

WHS Cosmetology facilitated the community service project and would like to thank the other WHS classes that jumped on board to create a lasting memory for these ladies.  The cosmetology students worked hard, holding two customer day fundraisers to raise the money needed for food, photo booth accessories, as well as the makeup and supplies needed for the makeovers.  This would not have been possible or as memorable if all classes had not worked together.  =
