The cosmetology classes of WHS participate in several community service projects throughout the year, including the First Baptist Church’s Back to School Fair in August giving haircuts to students who may not be able to afford a haircut with the added expenses of back to school supplies, Parker County Senior Center once a month giving haircuts and manicures to the senior citizens for free of charge, and participating in the Curtis Elementary Chili Cookoff giving haircuts again to those students in need of a free haircut.
The cosmetology classes are scheduled again this year to do updo’s, hairstyles and manicures to WHS students attending the Special Education Holiday Dance in a few weeks. These students look forward to coming to the Cosmo Salon to experience a makeover for their very own Holiday dance.
The WHS Cosmetology students take great pride in giving back to their community. These student have also participated in past community service projects such as the Haircuts for Heaters event held last year benefiting the Parker County Senior Citizens. Haircuts were given in exchange for heaters. Heaters were then distributed to the Senior Citizens that were in need of heat during the winter.
