Parker County Retired Teachers celebrate a ‘Klassy’ Christmas

Special to the WD

Excitement filled Cuppett Hall at Central Christian Church on Dec. 3 as 110 members of the Parker County Retired Teachers gathered to celebrate Christmas together.

Tradition prevailing, the meeting began with an invocation, the pledges of allegiance and the “Star-Spangled Banner.” Then, the focus on fun and fellowship began as President Louretta Evans directed members to tables laden with special foods they had brought to share, not only with each other but also with the special group, the Klassy Kloggers, who had come to entertain.

As members were finishing their delicious meals, Debbie Pipes, representing the Sunshine  Committee, introduced Shirley Anderson, leader of the dance group. Shirley explained some of the history of clogging and the program to come.

Dressed in their festive Christmas regalia, the group tapped their way into the hearts of the members who sat in amazement as this dance troupe enthusiastically clogged for thirty minutes! In appreciation the Sunshine Committee presented the cloggers with a basket of miniature Christmas stockings, each filled with sweet treats.

Amidst cries of “Merry Christmas,” the group departed, anticipating many opportunities to continue celebrating with family and friends. At the next scheduled meeting on Jan. 7, the Scrapbook/Historian and Awards committees will present a program focusing on increased service opportunities for members.

Lunch, catered by Roger Grizzard at Pizza Place, will include lasagna for a cost of $8. For reservations and more information, call Kathryn Jordan at 817-594-5748.
