POOLVILLE – A Poolville ISD ag teacher and coach was issued a citation for assault this week after he reportedly slapped a 17-year-old female student on the buttocks earlier this month.

The student and her parent reported the incident, which the student found offensive, to the school resource officer on March 5th, according to Parker County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Danie Huffman.

On Monday the deputy issued 41-year-old Wesley Lavelle Jennings a citation on a class C misdemeanor charge of assault–offensive contact, according to records.

Information about what led up to the incident was not available from the sheriff’s office.

The Democrat left two messages with Poolville ISD Superintendent Jimmie Dobbs’ office and emailed him but was unable to reach him Thursday for comment on the situation or information on Jennings’ position with the school.

Jennings, whose Facebook page indicates he has worked for the district since 2008, declined to comment.
