Woman, fugitive jailed on drug charges

By CHRISTIN COYNE

Two people suspected of dealing methamphetamine in the Reno area were arrested Tuesday after deputies attempting to serve a felony arrest warrant say they found illegal substances despite attempts by the two to get rid of it.

Deputies arrived at the residence in the 500 block of Arvel Circle around 4:30 p.m. and found a Chevrolet Camaro leaving the scene and a wanted man attempting to flee out the back of the residence, according to court records.

Deputies found a cigarette package containing a bag with 7.5 grams of suspected methamphetamine about 6 feet from the driver’s side door where the car had stopped, according to a probable cause affidavit.

The driver of the car, identified as 38-year-old Karie Kay Smith and reported to be smoking a cigarette matching the brand in the package, was arrested and charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance, more than 4 grams, less than 200 grams, a first-degree felony, according to the sheriff’s office.

The wanted man, Bryan Keith Kabrick, 50, was observed attempting to flee out from the rear of the house, according to the probable cause affidavit. Kabrick threw a black box over the property line fence, the sheriff’s office reported. Inside deputies reportedly found several baggies of suspected methamphetamine totaling more than 34 grams and marijuana totaling nearly 24 grams, along with empty baggies believed to be for repackaging and two sets of electronic scales.

Kabrick, who had a warrant for parole violation, was also charged with first degree felony manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance and a class B misdemeanor for possession of marijuana.

Attempted sexual assault

A man accused of sexually assaulting a woman at a Weatherford business was arrested Wednesday after he confessed, according to Weatherford police.

Alejandro “Alex” Gonzalez-Montes, 19, was charged with third-degree felony attempted sexual assault and second-degree felony tampering with a government document.
