CASA ‘Fore-the-Kids’ tourney raises more than $23K

Twenty-six teams of golfers played Canyon West on April 25 to benefit CASA of Palo Pinto and Parker Counties. This year’s “Fore-the-Kids” Golf Tournament raised over $23,000 that will benefit the abused and neglected children served by the two-county CASA organization.

The team from First Financial Bank-Mineral Wells earned first place. The team consisted of Albert Rincon, Heidi Rincon, Scott Petty and Ricky Hardin.

Earning the second place team trophy was the team from Doyle Moss Insurance-Doyle Moss, Linda Moss, Doyle Lee and Traci McGaha.

The third place team, from PMI Pump Parts, consisted of Ross Walters, Justin Donaldson, Jeff Humphrey and Jeff Edwards.

“We had a fantastic tournament this year, thanks to many people. We are so thankful for the increased number of teams that played this year and the increased amount of money raised for our local CASA organization,” said Barbara Tucker, executive director for CASA of Palo Pinto and Parker Counties. “Canyon West is a great golf course that the players enjoy, and Canyon West’s accommodations for all involved in the tournament that day were terrific. Plus we had excellent food and wonderful raffle prizes. And, importantly, over $23,000 was raised which will benefit our local CASA program and the children we serve.”

CASA is the acronym for Court-Appointed Special Advocates. Trained CASA volunteers advocate for the best interests of abused and neglected children in the court system. The volunteers are the “eyes and ears” for the judge in the child’s case.

CASA of Palo Pinto and Parker Counties currently has 79 trained volunteers advocating for 268 children who have been removed from their home due to abuse or neglect.

Fore-the-Kids Golf Tournament was greatly supported, organizers said.

“We are so appreciative for our big sponsors. Their generous contributions are significant in our overall success,” Tucker added. The tournament’s Gold sponsors were Jerry’s GM and Vista Sand; and Silver sponsors were FTS International Services and First Financial Bank.
