WC plans re-vamped homecoming April 27

Weatherford College is celebrating homecoming on Saturday, April 27, and organizers have made several changes to this year’s event to encourage even more alumni to participate.

A new Homecoming Family Cookout will kick the day off at WC’s baseball and softball complex. From noon to 2 p.m., former students can bring their families and enjoy grilled hamburgers, a bounce house and other games for children, and the chance to catch up with old classmates. The casual event will be held adjacent to Roger Williams Ballpark and Stuart Field.

Beginning at 1 p.m., WC’s baseball and softball teams will both be playing home doubleheaders and alumni are encouraged to come and cheer for either Coyote team, or both. Part of the festivities will include a brief ceremony honoring Richard and Nancy Stuart for their support of  WC Foundation’s “The Time is Now for Your College” capital campaign and to officially mark the naming of Stuart Field.

The traditional Alumni Awards Event will have a new twist: the event will be held in WC’s new Academic Building lobby. The 2013 Alumnus of the Year and Distinguished Alumni Award winners will be honored during the dinner, and tours of the brand-new building will be available.

Tickets for the meal are $15 apiece, and you can make a reservation by calling 817-598-6272 or emailing mjohnson@wc.edu. Attire for the Alumni Awards Event is business casual.
