Springtown couple Lyndon and Tiffany Leake welcomed their third child and the county’s first baby of 2013 early Tuesday morning at Weatherford Regional Medical Center.

Gary Douglas Leake, named after his paternal grandfather who died several years ago due to cancer, was born at 6:08 a.m., delivered by Tiffany Leake’s obstetrician, Lindsay McBride.

“He’s our little angel baby,” Leake said.

The couple also has a 7-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son.

Leake said she was told she would never have children again so his birth was a blessing. He is expected to be their last child.

Gary Douglas, the only baby born on New Year’s Day at the hospital, came a little earlier than expected.

His due date was not until Jan. 11 but the couple spent their New Year’s Eve at Weatherford Regional Medical Center awaiting his arrival.

The happy, healthy infant slept most of his first day, his parents said, adding that he already appeared to be a strong, determined young man, holding his head up and pulling a towel over his head when he was under the bright lights in the newborn nursery.

The first of any of the three children to be born with a significant amount of hair, the 19-inch long, 6-pound, 11-ounce baby looks like his father at his age, the family said.

“He’s a daddy’s boy,” Tiffany Leake said as the child slept in his father’s arms.
