Poolville math, science teams compete

The Poolville Junior High Math and Science Team competed in Wichita Falls, at City View Junior High, on Feb. 22. Twelve students attended the meet with about 200 other students. This was the first qualifying meet. Team members have two more chances to advance to the state competition.

Results were:

Eighth Grade Division: Christopher Tunnell placed 14th in Number Sense, 11th in Calculator and 18th in Mathematics.

Seventh Grade Division: Madelyn Gilmore placed 19th in Number Sense and 16th in Mathematics; Sarah Kelly placed ninth in Number Sense, 15th in Calculator and 14th in Mathematics; Logan Spikes placed 10th in Number Sense, sixth in Calculator and 17th in Mathematics; Tyler Tunnell placed sixth in Calculator.

Fifth Grade Division: Ethan Elliott placed second in Number Sense, second in Calculator, third in Mathematics and second in Science; Evan Lang placed 7th in Number Sense, fifth in Calculator, 10th in Mathematics and third in Science;

Garret Lokey placed ninth in Number Sense, seventh in Calculator, 15th in Mathematics and 167th in Science; Dalton Sprague placed first in Number Sense, fourth in Calculator, second in Mathematics and 17th in Science; Wyatt Thomas placed fourth in Number Sense, first in Calculator, sixth in Mathematics and 10th in Science; Christian Elliott placed sixth in Number Sense, sixth in Mathematics and seventh in Science.                

Other participants included Stone Stegall. The team’s next competition will be March 1.
