POLICE BLOTTER: Stolen vehicle alert leads to pursuit, arrests

Teen arrested for pot possession

An 18-year-old was arrested for pot possession following a traffic stop Saturday night.

A Weatherford officer reported stopping a vehicle at 8:19 p.m. Saturday in the 1000 block of Fort Worth Highway for failing to maintain a single lane and speeding.

The officer advised he could smell the odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the vehicle as he spoke to the driver, identified as Kele Jones, of Santo. Jones reportedly gave verbal consent to search the vehicle, where a black smoking pipe and a clear plastic baggy of marijuana were allegedly found in the center console.

Jones was taken into custody for possessing a usable amount of marijuana, less than 2 ounces. He was released from Parker County Jail Sunday afternoon after posting $750 bail.

Jail meth

Around 3 a.m. Sunday, two Weatherford police officers were at a business in the 100 block of Santa Fe Drive when a man, later identified as Joshua Johnson, 26, of Weatherford, was observed behind a business center in the 200 block of Fort Worth Highway. Johnson was seen to “abruptly turn around and disappear from view” after seeing the officers, according to a report. While subsequently conducting a business check, Johnson was seen walking southbound in the 200 block of South Walnut Street.

Johnson was determined to be intoxicated in public and was arrested. Once inside Parker County Jail, Johnson was found in possession of a controlled substance, identified as methamphetamine, and he was also charged with felony possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility. He remained in Parker County Jail under bonds totaling $10,800.

Teen arrested for DUI

At 7:04 p.m. Sunday, police were reportedly dispatched to a minor accident near mile marker 410 on Interstate 20 West involving a 2005 Dodge pickup driven by Turner Walker, 19, of Weatherford. Police said Walker had a detectable amount of alcohol in his system. Walker was arrested for DUI-Minor and transported to Parker County Jail. He was released early Monday morning after paying a $329 fine.

Drunk in public – again

Around 2:01 p.m. Saturday, a Weatherford police officer was dispatched to an intoxicated person call at West Spring and Harcourt streets. There, the officer reportedly found Vincente C. Garcia, who reportedly displayed signs of intoxication and was arrested for public intoxication.

Garcia has three prior convictions for public intoxication within the past 24 months, police said. He was jailed under a $1,000 bond.
