Texas Bar Foundation awards $4K grant to CASA–Hope for Children

CASA–Hope for Children is pleased to announce a generous donation received from The Texas Bar Foundation in the amount of $4,000.

The support of the Texas Bar Foundation is a great example of the legal community lending their support to neglected and abused children, CASA–Hope for Children officials said.

The Recruitment Technology grant will be used to increase the program’s effectiveness in its outreach and recruitment efforts.

“Our program has experienced a significant amount of growth in a very short amount of time and we are in desperate need of volunteers,” stated local CASA Executive Director Barb Tucker.

CASA volunteers play an essential role helping abused children find permanency in an overburdened court system. A CASA volunteer is appointed by a judge in a case when a child or children are removed from their home by the Department of Child Protective Services. Often, the child’s CASA volunteer is the one constant in their lives.

In 2012, CASA-Hope for Children helped to find safe and permanent homes for approximately 175 children in Parker and Palo Pinto counties. So far, this year the agency is serving more than 315 children.
