Saturday morning sports medicine injury clinic to open

WILLOW PARK – Parker County’s only sports medicine clinic is starting back up again.

Sports medicine specialist Greg Bratton, M.D., set to see children and adults on Saturday mornings at Lone Star Family Care in Willow Park.

Competitive sports and exercise makes you look good and feel good – however, too much of a good thing can lead to an injury that can sideline you from the activities you enjoy.

In order to keep more children and adults active and in the game, Bratton, a board-certified family medicine physician who specializes in sports medicine, will be on-site at Lone Star Family Care each Saturday morning to assess and treat injuries.

After initial assessment, Dr. Bratton will recommend if any follow-up care is needed.

“You don’t have to be a competitive athlete to get a sports injury, which is simply an injury that commonly occurs during sports or exercise. A sports injury can happen to anyone at any age; although they are more common as we grow older, and more often occur among women, due to differences in body structure,” said Bratton.

Sports injuries can involve any part of the body, but generally refer to an injury that involves the muscles, bones or connective tissue, like cartilage. These types of injuries usually come about from improper training or conditioning, insufficient warm-up and stretching before an activity, using the wrong equipment or doing too much, too fast.

“I’m excited to start this in conjunction with the beginning of the school year. We want all athletes and spectators, whether they are players, cheerleaders, fans, or mascots, to enjoy the game and not be sidelined by an injury” Bratton said.

The clinic will be open on Saturdays throughout football season from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at 5700 E. Interstate 20 Service Road South, in Aledo.
