Children’s show opens Friday at Weatherford College

An unusual take on the classic fairy tale, “Cinderella Confidential,” by Eric Coble, will be presented Friday through Sunday at Weatherford College.

Directed by Joseph Nicikowski, the play, like all the children’s stories presented by him and his drama students in the fall at WC, has a moral for us all, adults and children alike, this one reminding us what it means to find and tell the truth.

Performances are scheduled at the WC Alkek Fine Arts Center Friday and Saturday evenings, Oct. 18-19, 7:30 p.m., and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20. Admission is free.

The plot involves two investigative reporters who are competing for the scoop of the century: Who does the glass slipper belong to?

Interviewing everybody from a fairy godmother to mice (who want their identities protected), the pair search for the truth and talk to such other “celebrity” characters as Pinocchio and Jack and his cow.

“It’s a no-holds-barred exposé of the timeless love story and finding the truth,” said Nicikowski who, after this weekend’s performances, will take the show to several area elementary schools.

The cast includes Cheyenne Dunagan as Deb Jabber, a reporter with Action Newsday Now; Maragret “Su Anne” Ludwig in multiple parts – fairy godmother, Mrs. Mouse and Cinderella; Stephen Sullivan as the prince and the shoemaker; Kylar Dobbs as Sonny Glamour, a reporter with Glitter Kingdom Today; Emmanuel Windham  as Jack, an elf and wicked stepsister No. 1; and Jesus Rodriguez  as Pinocchio, Mr. Mouse and wicked stepsister No. 2.
