Minor driving while intoxicated

Police about 8:30 p.m. Saturday stopped a vehicle in the 1600 block of Fort Worth Highway that had been traveling with its headlights off.

The 16-year-old female driver reportedly told the officer she had been drinking and had no driver’s license. She was also found to be in unlawful possession of tobacco.

Teens consuming alcohol

Police were called at 11:15 p.m. Saturday to a residence in the 300 block of Lockwood Lane where a Department of Public Transportation trooper had confronted a group of people drinking alcohol in public.

Two juveniles, a male and a female, were issued citations for minor consuming alcohol and released to their parents, who were called to the scene. Four other teens, two males and two females, were arrested.

DWI again

Police about 10:18 p.m. Sunday were called concerning a reported reckless driver. Police were told the driver of the pickup was “all over the road” and had stopped in a business in the 1200 block of North Main Street.

The driver was leaving the business as an officer was arriving, who reported the vehicle fail to keep a single lane and then declined to stop for the officer’s emergency lights and siren.

The vehicle reportedly continued to travel north on FM Road 51 for approximately two miles before coming to a stop. The driver, Daniel Ahern, 55, of Weatherford, was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated, with three or more prior convictions, and for fleeing from a peace officer. Ahern was transported to Parker County Jail.

In June, there were seven students who explored the flora and fauna of the rainforest through music at The Burch School of Music. Each child made his or her own rain stick, along with other crafts and art work. For two hours each day for five days, students explored a different level of the rainforest, starting with the emergent layer at the top, moving through the canopy, the understory, the forest floor and the rivers. They let bats fly (black balloons) and were eaten by a boa constrictor. On the last day they dressed as natives and drummed together.
