Burglary call leads to arrests of three family members

Parker County sheriff’s deputies arrested a family trio Thursday in connection with a burglary-in-progress call.

Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler said a concerned citizen notified the sheriff’s office that three unknown males appeared to be taking car parts from a yard in the 7000 block of Hutchison Hill Road in Springtown.

The call was reported around 2:30 p.m. Thursday. The caller stated the males were occupying a Chevrolet pickup truck.

Sheriff’s deputies reportedly responded to a burglary call reported moments before in the 2100 block of Carter Road, and officials said they believe the suspects are connected to the earlier burglary.

While en route to the call, deputies reportedly observed a truck matching the suspect vehicle in the 300 block of Meadow Road. Deputies stopped to investigate the suspicious truck and discovered car parts in the bed of the pickup, along with a large amount of copper wiring, a refrigerator, a window air conditioning unit and a speaker box near the truck, matching the description of items reportedly taken in the first burglary call.

Deputies made contact with one of the suspects, who stated he found the items on the roadway. Deputies allegedly observed the trio carrying the items into their residence.

When deputies informed the suspect that witnesses observed them taking the items from the victim’s residence, the suspect then implicated himself and two others in the thefts and burglary, according to a sheriff's department statement.

The suspects were identified as Bobby Dale Lewis II, 44; his brother, Jonathan Hardy Lewis, 32; and his son, Justin Ray Lewis, 19, all of Springtown.

The trio was arrested and booked into the Parker County Jail. Each man was charged with second-degree felony burglary of a habitation, theft of materials, a state jail felony, and misdemeanor theft of property. No bond amounts had been set as of late Friday morning.
