POLICE BLOTTER: Man charged with injuring disabled woman

Injury to disabled person

A Weatherford man was arrested Thursday evening after he allegedly assaulted and injured a 61-year-old disabled woman.

Donald Wayne Jones, 59, was arrested and placed in Parker County Jail on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and injury to a disabled person, according to jail records. He was released Friday after posting a $10,000 bond.

A Weatherford police report of the incident released publicly did not go into detail about the assault or the victim, or her injuries.

Parker County Jail records show Jones has prior arrests for driving while intoxicated, including a felony DWI, and was arrested in September 2010 for assault causing injury.

Drug paraphernalia

Weatherford police were called to the 200 block of South Lamar Street at 8:51 p.m. Thursday following a report from a 38-year-old man that a known individual was smoking drugs. The 19-year-old male in question was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia after police reported finding two pipes, a grinder, rolling papers and a bong used for smoking marijuana.

DWI number two

A Weatherford police officer reported that just after midnight Friday morning a 2012 Dodge vehicle was seen traveling east on the Interstate 20 access road at the 406 overpass.

The vehicle reportedly continued into the intersection of Old Dennis Road without stopping at the stop sign, and a traffic stop was made by the officer. The driver, and sole occupant, was identified as Jennifer Buckner, 27, of Weatherford. The officer reported smelling an odor of alcohol on Buckner and observed signs of intoxication.

Buckner performed a field sobriety test and was determined to have been operating a motor vehicle in a public place while intoxicated, according to police. She was arrested for driving while intoxicated, her second DWI offense after a criminal history check reportedly revealed a previous DWI conviction in 2013.
