A series of six free healthy living workshops for those with chronic diseases and/or their caretakers will be offered weekly from 9:30 a.m. to noon May 3 — June 7 in the Parker County Hospital District boardroom, 1130 Pecan Street in Weatherford.
The workshops, presented by Texas Health Resources, teach practical skills for living a healthy life to those with conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, arthritis or high blood pressure.
Topics include ways to deal with symptoms, pain and fatigue; healthy eating and exercise choices; handling difficult emotions and relaxation techniques; evaluating treatment options; appropriate use of medications; and effective ways to talk to doctors and family members about health issues.
The Chronic Disease Self Management Program was developed by the School of Medicine at Stanford University with funds from a federal grant.
