POLICE BLOTTER: Money theft and fake ID

Following are some of the offenses, investigations and calls for service reported by Weatherford police for the period 6 a.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday:


An investigation into a woman’s complaint that money was stolen from her purse while at work in the 900 block of South Main Street led to the discovery that the suspect in the alleged theft had used fake identification to secure employment at the business. The woman said $130 was taken from her purse.


A business owner in the 1200 block of South Main Street said over the last several months an employee has been stealing money from the business by writing herself extra checks. The amount of the alleged theft was listed at $6,300.


Police were called to the 900 block of West Park Avenue where a man said about two weeks ago some $1,000 worth of copper was stolen from the property.

The man said another theft occurred between June 17-20. The items missing were copper wiring, truck batteries, a ladder and two game cameras.

The copper wire stolen was valued at $1,100 while the other property reported stolen totaled $1,270.

11:24 a.m., hit-and-run wreck, 2500 block of South Main Street.

12:14 p.m., scam/fraud, 100 block of Edge Hill Terrace.

1:11 p.m., minor wreck, 2000 block of South Main Street.

1:40 p.m., minor wreck, 100 block of Palo Pinto Street.

1:43 p.m., scam/fraud, 100 block of North Main Street.

2:16 p.m., theft in progress, 1700 block of Blair Street.

2:22 p.m., scam/fraud, 100 block of East I-20.

4:31 p.m., minor wreck, North Boundary Street.

5:41 p.m., hit-and-run wreck, 700 block of Adams Drive.

5:49 p.m., theft in progress, 1800 block of South Main Street.

6:53 p.m., major wreck, 1200 block of Jameson Street.

7:07 p.m., theft, 900 block of West Park Avenue.

7:50 p.m., animal call, 100 block of East I-20.

8:06 p.m., disturbance, 700 block of East Third Street.

9:13 p.m., fight, 300 block of South Alamo Street.

9:32 p.m., suspicious person, 300 block of South Alamo Street.

9:53 p.m., major wreck, 100 block of West I-20.

9:58 p.m., major wreck, 2100 block of East I-20.

10:21 p.m., theft, 100 block of East I-20.

10:59 p.m., disturbance, Fort Worth Highway.

11:14 p.m., theft in progress, 1800 block of South Main Street.

11:57 p.m., suspicious person, 700 block of Santa Fe Drive.


1:02 a.m., threats made, 1300 East Lake Drive.

1:35 a.m., disturbance, 800 block of Johnson Street.

    In June, there were seven students who explored the flora and fauna of the rainforest through music at The Burch School of Music. Each child made his or her own rain stick, along with other crafts and art work. For two hours each day for five days, students explored a different level of the rainforest, starting with the emergent layer at the top, moving through the canopy, the understory, the forest floor and the rivers. They let bats fly (black balloons) and were eaten by a boa constrictor. On the last day they dressed as natives and drummed together.

  • Republican Women to meet Aug. 14 at Doss

    The Parker County Republican Women’s monthly meeting will be Aug. 14 at the Doss Heritage and Culture Center in Weatherford. The meeting is open to the public.

  • AgriLife to offer parenting classes Aug. 19, 21

    The Texas AgriLife Extension Service of Parker County will offer parenting classes on Aug. 19 and 21, 2014, at the Parker County Agricultural Services Center. The classes will be from 1-5 p.m. each day and will include lunch. The cost to attend the class is $10 per person for the two-day class. Scholarships are available.

  • CASA receives national certification for its efforts

    WEATHERFORD – CASA Hope for Children of Parker and Palo Pinto County has just been awarded certification by the National Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) Association. This certification recognizes that CASA Hope for Children is in compliance with National CASA’s high standards for quality child advocacy.
