Sallaz attains the rank of Eagle Scout

Weatherford Democrat

— Boy Scout Troop 75, of Weatherford, announced that Michael David Sallaz has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.

An average of just 7 percent of all scouts are able to advance to this level by earning a minimum of 21 merit badges, 12 of which must be Eagle-level merit badges.

Michael’s Eagle Project involved refurbishing and painting the exterior of the Parker County Tennis Association’s tennis building at Soldier Springs Park in Weatherford. He also replaced the broken windows and the door in order to better protect the building from the elements.

The highlights of Michael’s scouting career include attending the Rocky Mountain High Adventure Camp in Colorado in 2012 and hiking to the Tooth of Time at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico in 2013.

Michael is a freshman at the Weatherford Ninth Grade Center, where he is on the junior varsity tennis team. He is the son of Jeff and Leigh Anne Sallaz, of Weatherford. Michael’s grandparents are George and Sandra Burrow, of Weatherford, and Robert and Alice Sallaz, of North Jackson, Ohio.
