Greenwood Horse Trials to begin May 2

The annual Greenwood Farm, Inc. International Horse Trials kick off Friday, May 2.

The Greenwood Horse Trials are a triathlon for horses consisting of dressage, a test of quality and training for each horse’s gaits; show jumping, a test of accuracy while jumping fences in an arena; and cross-country jumping, a test of bravery and endurance while galloping approximately two miles of countryside, negotiating solid obstacles and terrain. Winners will have collected the least amount of penalty points.

The event is sponsored by Charlie Gilchrist’s SouthWest Ford. Riding divisions range from International to Beginner, and the sport is open to all ages of riders and breeds of horses.  It is supported by local vendors, advertisers, and volunteers.
