WC Granbury to offer courses for future teachers

Weatherford Democrat

The Weatherford College Education Center at Granbury will offer courses required for the Associate of Arts in Teaching degree (AAT) beginning in the fall.

An informational session about the degree is scheduled at the WC Education Center at Granbury, 210 N. Jones, for 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 6. Representatives from WC’s Education Department will be available to explain the program and answer questions.

Students who wish to become certified teachers in Texas can complete the AAT program at Weatherford College and then apply to the Tarleton Teacher Education Program offered on the WC campus or transfer to another university to complete a bachelor’s degree and certification requirements.

Students can now earn most of the prerequisites for the program at WC Granbury.

“We have even arranged classes so that students can take several courses toward the AAT by attending only one day a week,” said Dr. David Russell, Associate Dean of WC Granbury. “This program is one of our many vital partnerships with Tarleton State University.”
