Administrative Services Manager Wade Calhoun spoke of the city’s budget numbers midway through Fiscal Year 2013. Revenues are up in a couple if areas, namely court fine recoveries and sales tax when compared to a year ago.
The city collected just more than $22,000 in court fines last month, a significant jump from recent years where an average of $15,000 to $17,000 was collected. Calhoun said the city’s yearly warrant roundup and a new collection agency accounted for the increase.
Sales tax numbers were up 2 percent from March 2012, or about $2,000, Calhoun said. He said it’s the 15th straight month of increases over the same period the year before.
