Councilmembers here approved the bid of C. Green Scaping of Fort Worth for the US 180 Median Project during a special meeting Monday morning.
The bid was scheduled to be approved during the regular September council meeting, but approval from the federal government slowed the process, forcing a special meeting. About $216,000 of the estimated $991,000 for the project is coming through TxDOT’s Green Ribbon program, which had to be approved by the federal government first.
City Administrator Sheri Campbell-Husband said during the September meeting normal approval time is about two weeks but it had been nearly a month. Many of the bids came in under specs, allowing for nearly $70,000 in case some items do go over budget.
As part of the project, landscaping of the medians along U.S. 180 through town will be completed. The project is part of the city working on its branding and beautification.
Assistant City Administrator Patrick Lawler said the project should begin in November and is scheduled to last 280 days, but he doesn’t expect the project to take that long. As part of the construction, intermittent lane closures can be expected once construction begins.
