‘Saddle Up For Kids’ event Wednesday

Humorist Ron Hall, other celebrities lined up for child welfare board fundraiser

— The Third Annual “Saddle Up For Kids” event is Wednesday, May 1, at the Parker County Sheriff’s Posse grounds.

The event features a delicious chuck wagon steak dinner highlighted by an entertaining, humorous and inspirational evening with Ron Hall, co-author of the New York Times best selling book, “Same Kind of Different as Me,” soon to be a feature film.

Also on hand will be Parker County Sheriff Larry Fowler and his posse plus a star-studded cast of celebrities including actors Betty Buckley, Barry Corbin, Alex Cord, Robert Fuller Anne Lockhart and Jennifer Savidge. Dallas Cowboys legends Walt Garrison and Rayfield Wright are also expected to be on hand, along with cowboy poet and songwriter Red Steagall, among others.

Proceeds from the event help the Parker County Child Welfare Board make life better for children whose lives have been impacted by abuse and neglect. Proceeds will go toward summer camp enrollment as well as the purchase of school clothes and other necessities throughout the year.

Delivering the meal is Silver Spur Chuck Wagon Catering. Other sponsors and participants are Bob Kingsley’s Country Top 40, Carol Anderson Ward Cutting Horses, Hamilton Wholesale Meat, Lamb’s Print Shop, Logan’s Roadhouse, Mission Restaurant Supply, Rusty Crownover, Singletary’s Furniture and The C.D. Hartnett Company.
