POLICE BLOTTER: theft of identity, firearm reported

Following are some of the offenses, investigations and calls for service reported by the Weatherford Police Department for the period 6 a.m. Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday:

Identity thief

A resident in the 100 block of Henry Lane reported someone used their Social Security number to fraudulently file an income tax return.

Firearm theft

A resident who lives in the 1200 block of South Rusk Street said a possible known suspect took a firearm from his arm. The type of weapon was not identified by police, but reported its value at $500.

10:05 a.m., hit-and-run wreck, 1700 block of South Main Street.

1:28 p.m., minor wreck, 1100 block of Fort Worth Highway.

1:56 p.m., major wreck, 800 block of Santa Fe Drive.

3:10 p.m., credit/debit card abuse, 300 block of Front Street.

4:10 p.m., minor wreck, 100 block of West Interstate 20.

5:27 p.m., burglary of a habitation, 1000 block of Vine Street.

5:47 p.m., reckless driver, 2200 block of Old Dennis Road.

7:19 p.m., disturbance, 1200 block of Santa Fe Drive.

7:25 p.m., reckless driver, South Bowie Drive.

8:04 p.m., suspicious person, 1800 block of South Main Street.

9:29 p.m., reckless driver, 200 block of Fort Worth Highway.

9:41 p.m., domestic disturbance/public intoxication, 1400 block of King Street.

9:55 p.m., suspicious vehicle, 200 block of Trinity Street.

10:22 p.m., intoxicated driver, 1800 block of South Main Street.

10:26 p.m., suspicious vehicle, 1500 West Ball Street.

10:51 p.m., suspicious vehicle,100 block of East Park Avenue.

11:19 p.m., suspicious vehicle,1600 block of Holland Lake Drive.

Thursday

2:31 a.m., suspicious person, 2000 block of Santa Fe Drive.

9:55 a.m., harassment, 2600 block of Causbie Road.

12:38 p.m., criminal mischief, 2000 block of Santa Fe Drive.

1:48 p.m., traffic wreck, 1400 block of South Main Street.

2:36 p.m., hit-and-run wreck, 100 block of York Avenue.

2:38 p.m., hit-and-run wreck, 1300 block of South Main Street.

3:16 p.m., theft, 100 block of East Interstate 20.

10:25 p.m., suspicious vehicle, 300 block of Love Street.

11:20 p.m., disturbance, 300 block of Waltzing Brook Court.

Wednesday

1:32 a.m., suspicious vehicle, 1400 block of South Main Street.

2:57 a.m., suspicious vehicle, 400 block of Santa Fe Drive.

    ST. LOUIS — Johnathon Taylor Soulis, of Weatherford, was named to the Dean’s List for the spring 2014 semester at Washington University in St. Louis. Soulis is enrolled in the university’s School of Engineering and Applied Science.

    CASA-Hope for Children has always been able to help 100% of the neglected and abused children taken into the foster care system, but because of the overwhelming number of children that have been taken into the system that may not be the reality much longer.

  • Driver speed, seatbelt compliance surveys show improvements

    The Weatherford Police Department utilized grant funding from the Texas Department of Transportation to fund overtime salaries for extra enforcement during the week of the Fourth of July. The extra patrols worked to ensure drivers were complying with posted speed limits, wearing seatbelts and were not driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol in an effort to keep our local roadways safe.
