Poolville math, science students advance to state


Weatherford Democrat

The Poolville Junior High Math and Science Team competed at Azle High School March 8 at the Regional Qualifier. Ten Poolville students attended the meet in an opportunity to qualify for state competition, competing against fellow 1A schools.  

Winners included:

8th Grade Division

Christopher Tunnell — first in number sense, third in calculator, sixth in mathematics and ninth in science.

7th Grade Division

Madelyn Gilmore — sixth in number sense, seventh in calculator.

Sarah Kelly — fourth in number sense, fourth in calculator, fourth in mathematics and 10th in science.

Logan Spikes — fifth in number sense, second in calculator and seventh in mathematics.

Tyler Tunnell — third in number sense and first in calculator.

5th Grade Division

Ethan Elliott — second in number sense, second in calculator, second in mathematics and sixth in science. 

Evan Lang — fourth in number sense, ninth in calculator, fifth in mathematics and fourth in science.

Garret Lokey — fifth in number sense, eighth in calculator and eighth in mathematics.

Dalton Sprague — first in number sense, fifth in calculator, first in mathematics and ninth in science.

Wyatt Thomas — third in number sense, first in calculator, third in mathematics and second in science.

Team results in the IA Division

Calculator Team —  first, advances to state. Team members: Tyler Tunnell, Logan Spikes, Sarah Kelly and Christopher Tunnell.

Number Sense Team — second, advances to state. Team members: Christopher Tunnell, Tyler Tunnell, Sarah Kelly and Logan Spikes.
