DENNIS – This Sunday saxophonist Nathan Woodward will be at First Baptist Church in Dennis for a special mini-concert during the 7 p.m. evening service.
A native of Pascagoula, Miss., Woodward began formal musical training at the age of 8 and began playing saxophone at the age of 12. After graduating from high school in 2005, Nathan moved to Mobile, Ala., and enrolled at the University of Mobile.
During those years, he continued his musical travels and performed for dignitaries such as former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, former Mississippi Gov. Ronnie Musgrove, syndicated columnist Cal Thomas and President George W. Bush.
He has also had the pleasure of working closely with organizations such as Chick-Fil-A, the American Red Cross, Chevron USA, MGM Resorts the Messianic Jewish Bible Institute and Alpha Ministries in Asia and West Africa. Upon graduation from college in 2009, Woodward toured with TRUTH for the 40th anniversary tour and directed the horn line and composed the arrangements for the instrumentalists.
Currently, Woodward performs and presents instrumental clinics in cooperation with the Yamaha Corporation of America as a “Yamaha Performing Artist.” Additionally, he serves on the advisory board of Alpha Ministries and as a music specialist for the Texas Baptist Convention, in addition to his full-time musical travels. He is a regular featured musician at First Baptist Church in Dallas.
With more than a decade of traveling across the United States and around the world, Woodward’s improvisational jazz style and passionate melodies will encourage the heart and stir the soul. Now residing in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, he spends 50 weekends a year on the road.
