Mentoring with a focus on giving topic of Women's Business Alliance program

Zan Prince will present a Women’s Business Alliance program on mentoring with the focus on giving, sharing and helping to make each piece of the whole more successful, showing how that is an investment in each other and our community.

Sharing ideas with other professional women, providing women with referrals for a solution to a woman’s issue or helping a student see their full potential are all part of the mentoring that makes the community more successful. In all settings, sharing with each other and helping our neighbors grow is a benefit to all of us.

Women’s Business Alliance will host the Sept. 6 program at the Wild Mushroom Steak House, 1917 Martin Drive, in Weatherford. The luncheon is 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event sponsor is Rosemarie Swaim, of BenefitSmart. Reservation can be made at www.eastparkerchamber.com.

The luncheon cost is $15 for members of the WBA and $20 for non-members. The Women’s Business Alliance is a steering committee of the East Parker County Chamber of Commerce and meets the first Friday of each month for lunch. The WBA exists to provide women business professionals with resources and activities that foster personal development and growth in East Parker County business community and beyond. Dues are $50 annually and are separate from  Chamber member dues.

Prince has often been described as a community leader, a person committed to helping those around her and making the community a better place. Prince has served in many service capacities in organizations such as the local church, Cub Scouts, Denison Education Fund, Denison Downtown Association, Independent Bankers Association of Texas, Texas Bankers Association, the Future Gen Project, 4-H, civic development, The Parker County Health Foundation, Business and Professional Women, Zonta and the chambers of commerce in Denison, East Parker County, Sherman, Springtown and Weatherford. In June, there were seven students who explored the flora and fauna of the rainforest through music at The Burch School of Music. Each child made his or her own rain stick, along with other crafts and art work. For two hours each day for five days, students explored a different level of the rainforest, starting with the emergent layer at the top, moving through the canopy, the understory, the forest floor and the rivers. They let bats fly (black balloons) and were eaten by a boa constrictor. On the last day they dressed as natives and drummed together.
