Garner woman found dead

Palo Pinto County —

A woman was found dead in the back of a truck Sunday night on Ward Mountain Road in southwest Palo Pinto County, and her nephew was taken into custody.

Palo Pinto County Sheriff Ira Mercer said Kimberly “Kim” Diane Morse, 54, of Garner, was found deceased in the bed of a pickup parked at a residence in the 1600 block of Ward Mountain Road, between Lone Camp and Santo.

She had apparently been shot in the head and her body was sent for autopsy, according to Palo Pinto County Sheriff Ira Mercer.

Her nephew, Charles Jason Morse, 30, who goes by Jason, was arrested at the scene on the charge of tampering with evidence with intent to impair a human corpse, and was being held in the Palo Pinto County Jail Monday morning. No bond had been set.

Mercer said investigators believe the shooting happened at a Garner residence shared by the two.
