MILLSAP MATTERS: Christmas delivered to 65 children through local group’s first efforts

By SHARRON HUDSON

MILLSAP – With a new year, some area organizations are looking back on past accomplishments and looking toward new opportunities.

The Millsap Community Support Group is savoring a job well done during the Christmas season.

This was the organization’s first year to sponsor an area Adopt An Angel endeavor. The group worked hard to get the kids signed up, while asking for community members to sponsor a child. The end result was more than 65 youngsters had gifts to open on Christmas morning.

The organization says the community did so much more than what had been expected. They want to give a big shout out to Michele Brian, Joy’s Salon, City Manager Mark Barnes and Roxie Bean for all of their help. This group was formed just last year to help residents and others as needs arise and they have already accomplished some wonderful results. We applaud them as they continue to “inspire kindness and pay it forward.”

The Millsap Booster Club is looking at the new year as a time to begin new opportunities. Three current board members will not be returning to the helm of leadership. Not returning to their current positions are Mike Burton, Johnnie Littlefield and Todd DePriest.

This club offers support to both boys and girls UIL sports at the high school and middle school. The group hosts various sports tournaments and raises money through concession stand sales. They help financially with equipment, uniforms, meals, travel, and accommodations. If parents are interested in leadership positions, notify the group so on June 1 everything is in place for the programs.

For more info or to contact the club you can go to their Facebook page or go by the administration building, high school or middle school. Go Bulldogs!

With all of this cold weather, who isn’t hungry? The place around here that everyone goes for a good meal is our local Tommy’s Store. Since the cafés at neighboring Cool have closed down it’s great that we have a convenient eatery that has delicious food. There is a very full menu that includes tasty breakfast foods and you can order up any food any time of day.
